The central government has appointed Rohit Jain as a deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Reuters has reported citing a government notice issued on Friday. He replaces former deputy governor, T Rabi Sankar who retired late last month.
Jain’s appointment will take effect from May 3 for a period of three years, the notice said. He is currently serving as an executive director at the central bank. His new portfolio allocation has yet to be announced.
