The state government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, failed on all fronts and there was a state of anarchy, said Barsar MLA Inder Dutt Lakhanpal during a protest rally at Bijhri village near here today. He added that the state government had failed to fulfil the 10 electoral guarantees that it promised during the 2022 election. Lakhanpal alleged that the state’s economic situation had crumbled due to wasteful spending, leading to a near-bankruptcy-like situation.
Lakhanpal asserted that by discontinuing public welfare schemes, such as Himcare and Sahara, both initiated by the previous BJP government, the current government had launched a direct assault on the rights of the poor and needy sections of society. He noted that guarantees like providing Rs 1,500 to women, offering 300 units of free electricity and generating five lakh jobs remained unfulfilled and were evidence of the government’s failure.
Meanwhile, Hamirpur MLA Ashish Sharma expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the state’s infrastructure. He said roads were in a deplorable condition, the drinking water supply system had collapsed, and health services were compromised. He added that the government remained indifferent to these issues. He alleged that the government was engaging solely in rhetoric and tokenism, with no concrete work being executed on the ground.
